A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root. A titanium implant is placed in the jaw and can support a crown, bridge or denture. It may be an option for one missing tooth or several teeth, depending on your needs.
Is an implant right for you?
We assess your teeth, gums, medical history and available bone before recommending treatment. Smoking, gum disease and some medical conditions can affect healing and long-term success. Some patients need bone grafting or other care first.

Planning before a tooth is removed
If you are considering an implant, discuss this before an extraction where possible. For suitable cases, socket/ridge preservation at extraction aims to limit shrinkage of the surrounding bone. The fee is £500 in addition to the extraction fee.
This is grafting carried out when the tooth is removed. Any further bone grafting needed for implant treatment is assessed and quoted separately; socket preservation does not guarantee that further grafting will be avoided.
The treatment stages
- Plan your care. We examine your mouth and take appropriate X-rays and impressions. We discuss your replacement teeth and give you a treatment estimate.
- Place the implant. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Healing normally takes several months; the timing varies between patients.
- Fit the replacement tooth. Once healing and stability have been assessed, a custom crown, bridge or denture is fitted.
Long-term care
Implants need daily cleaning and regular professional review. The surrounding gums and bone can develop problems, so ongoing maintenance is part of treatment planning. We’ll show you how to clean around your restoration.
Other ways to replace teeth
A dental bridge or denture may be more appropriate for some patients. We’ll also discuss whether a gap needs replacing at all.
