Clear aligners are a series of removable, close-fitting trays that gradually move teeth. They may be suitable for selected alignment or spacing concerns. The first step is checking that your teeth and gums are healthy and that aligners can achieve the changes you want.

Assessment and planning
We examine your teeth and bite and take the records needed for planning. You can discuss the proposed tooth movements, likely treatment length, limitations and estimate before deciding whether to proceed. Some cases need a different approach or specialist advice.
During treatment
You wear each set of aligners according to your prescribed schedule and change them as directed. Consistent wear is essential. Aligners are removed for eating and cleaning, and review appointments allow us to check progress.
Treatment length varies with the movements needed and how well the wear schedule is followed. We’ll explain your expected routine and how to care for the trays.
Retainers after treatment
Teeth can move again after orthodontic treatment. Retainers help maintain their new position, so ongoing retainer wear is an important part of your plan. We’ll explain the type of retainer and schedule recommended for you.
Whitening or bonding afterwards
Aligners change tooth position rather than tooth shape or colour. If you are also considering whitening or composite bonding, we can discuss whether these are suitable and the order of treatment.
Your treatment estimate
We provide an individual estimate after assessment. Ask what is included in your plan, including review visits, any further aligners and retainers.
